Past losses re-emerge
with present losses

It's true that some don't bounce back from losses as quick as others do, and, if we have a history with an inability to predict or prevent losses, our feeling of safety today is affected. If we criticize ourselves for not being able to ‘move on’ from major changes, we might want to consider if this delay in resuming a sense of ‘normal’, may have to do with losses experienced during a long ‘abnormal normal’ in childhood. Perhaps this ‘abnormal’, started as a loss that others dismissed as unimportant, or a grief that lingered with no guidance or help to see its proper place in the bigger picture of life.

The Doing Without series (DW) as ‘brain retraining’

The DW TRAIN series could be said to be a type of ‘brain retraining’ to counter trauma with truth. Using the lessons, we will experience alternative ways of thinking and feeling about yesterday, consider new viewpoints for today, and craft a ‘new normal’ to respond to the unknown losses in the future.
